Mazatlán, Mexico Still Remains Authentic... For Now.

Despite being a beachfront city with authentic culture, Mazatlán has somehow managed to avoid serious gentrification or the invasion of Digital Nomads. While there is a large expat community of Canadians and Americans (estimates of 20,000 in the winter), its still not a tourist destination for Gringos per say. The travel warnings and the word 'Sinaloa' have kept mass tourism at bay, but for how long? Heck, Medellin, Colombia first became famous due to its history of narco culture and Pablo Escoabar. Now it's a digital nomad haven and attracts over 1 million tourists a year. While it does receive a large number of tourists, they are 95% nationals.

In Mazatlán, Monthly beachfront apartments can still be found for around $1800. Good luck finding that in Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos or Cancun. Visit while it still has some authentic culture left. Experience the old town. 15 kilometer Malecon, amazing beaches, tropical weather and cool little golf cart taxis called Pulmonias. Avoid the summer if you cant take the heat though as the humidity is rough.

Yeah I have called Mazatlan home for 5 years but the rapid development of vacation condos and hotels is crazy. I think now is the best time to visit before prices surge anymore than they already have.
