Is Paris Overrated?

This topic seems to be debated more than any other destination. I have actually avoided it due to the constant barrage of Paris not being worth the money that it costs to visit. So many travelers either love it or hate it. How can Paris be so popular, and yet so unpopular at the same time?

Convince me it's worth it?

As a Brit, I love Paris! I love the food, the architecture, the shopping, and the people-watching. It's such an easy place to travel for me, and affordable. I know people that will go to Paris from London for the day just because the luxury shopping is cheaper. Speaking French definitely helps too!

But I can understand why people are disappointed with Paris too, particularly when they've travelled such a long way to get there. I think it would be hard for any city to live up to the hype that Paris has.
